On our recent Tucson family vacation, we spent one night at the Tucson Doubletree Downtown Convention Center and had the perfect stay. Our stay was split between the Doubletree and Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in the mountains.
While beating the Loews Ventana Canyon for a mountain resort experience was hard, the Doubletree offers a great stay in downtown Tucson. Here are some of the best parts of the Doubletree.

Location
\n\n\n\nThe Tucson Doubletree Downtown Convention Center is in the heart of Tucson, close to shopping, dining, and entertainment.
The nearest airport is Tucson International Airport, a 15-minute drive from the Doubletree Tucson. While the airport has several hotels within walking distance of the airport, those hotels aren't the best if you're staying several nights in Tucson.

We found the Doubletree Tucson to be an excellent location for exploring downtown Tucson and the nearby area during our family trip to Tucson.
\n\n\n\nAdjacent to the hotel are the Tucson Convention Center, Tucson Music Hall, and Leo Rich Theater, just a minute’s walk away. Several blocks further are the Tucson Museum of Art,
\n\n\n\nNearby family popular points of interest within a short walk are The Screamery Ice Cream, and Tucson’s Children's Museum.
\n\n\n\nOther family-friendly attractions a short drive away are the Tucson Petting Zoo and PIMA Air and Space Museum.
Exceptional customer Service
\n\n\n\nDoubletree Hotels are known for mid level luxury, and a fresh warm cookie when checking in!. The front desk staff went out of their way to ensure that our stay was enjoyable.

Rooms and Suites
\n\n\n\n

This brand new property is one of the nicest Doubletrees we have stayed at in years!
\n\n\n\nThe Tucson Doubletree can accommodate families of all sizes with its various guest rooms and suites. Families can choose from a standard room, suite, or connecting room.
\n\n\n\nThe Doubletree also offers rooms with two queen beds or a king bed. Families with young children will appreciate the hotel's suites with cribs and high chairs.
\n\n\n\nDuring our stay, we were upgraded to a huge one-bedroom suite featuring floor-to-ceiling windows, a balcony, a second-half private bathroom, and an extra mini bar area.
\n\n\n\n
Amenities & Food
\n\n\n\nThe Doubletree Downtown Convention Center offers several restaurants and lounges, an outdoor swimming pool, and a fitness center.
Tucson Doubletree Downtown Restaurants and Bars
\n\n\n\nThe restaurants include room service and El Mezquite Grill & Taqueria, featuring local Southwest Cuisine and other American options. We ate dinner and breakfast at El Mezquite Grill and found the food and service excellent!
\n\n\n\n

The lobby bar area.
\n\n\n\n
Pool
\n\n\n\n
The outdoor pool with a sun deck and outdoor bar (closed during the winter) overlooks Tucson and Sentinel Peak Park.
\n\n\n\nDuring our December stay, kids only braved the cool water temperatures for a minute. The pool was freezing, and we found much warmer pool temperatures at other resorts in the area. The second-story pool overlooks the patio area from the El Mezquite Grill Taqueria.
\n\n\n\nFitness Center
\n\n\n\n
The higher-end clean fitness center has cardio machines, free weights, and strength-training equipment. The gym features a Peleton machine, a multi-function cable tower, and dumbbells up to 70lbs. We found the gym at the Tucson Doubletree Downtown to be much better than is typical for this class of hotel.

Recap
\n\n\n\nThe Tucson Doubletree Downtown Convention Center is a great choice for a stay in downtown Tucson! While resorts such as Loews are beautiful properties in the mountains, and feature more to do on the resort, the Doubletree is an excellent central location if you’re travels take you to the Downtown Tucson area.
